VERBAL COMMUNICATION IS PROVIDED FOR CRITICAL FINDINGS:
- Aortic, carotid and vertebral artery dissection
- Aortic Rupture or leak.
- Acute Spinal Stenosis/Unstable spinal fractures/ cord compression
- CNS Tumor, new with potential acute significance
- Ectopic pregnancy
- GI Bleed
- Hemoperitoneum/ Organ injury
- Large pericardial effusion
- New or worsening intracranial hemorrhage
- Portal venous gas/air or bowel infarction
- Bowel Obstruction – All
- New or worsening pneumothorax
- Unexplained pneumoperitoneum
- Epiglottitis
- Pulmonary Embolism
- Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm
- Testicular or ovarian torsion
- Acute DVT
- Acute appendicitis
- Acute hip fracture
- Malpositioned line, tube or catheter
- Pediatric nonaccidental trauma
- Shortened Cervix (<3 cm early, <2.5 cm 24-32 weeks) Fetal Bradycardia (<100-110 bpm)
- Fetal demise
Note: Although this list is titled “Critical Findings,” a Real Radiology physician may determine that a finding (not included in this list) warrants direct communication with the sending facility’s physician or care provider. Results communicated may not necessarily be “critical” but do require documentation of the communicated finding.
